Tivo Hints and Tips
The Following hints and tips are provided as information only and are not intended to replace your TiVo instruction manual.
Service and support for your TiVo come directly from TiVo. West Carolina is not a dealer nor are we fully trained in the use and setup of the product.
As you go through the guided setup, we have provided additional information in those sections specific to West Carolina’s Digital Entertainment Service.
Notice: In most areas it is a long distance call to download the Tivo interactive guide.
The Guided Setup requires two phone calls. The first call is a toll-free 800-number which gives you the nearest area to call and download the interactive guide. The second call downloads the guide information. Try to complete the Guided Setup when you don’t need the phone for an hour or so.
****Program Source:****
-When choosing program source you should:
Select “Cable”
* After the initial call you want to choose the nearest location of your residence, and select from the guide.
* When choosing how you will place the call,
-If long distance you should choose 1-864-_ _ _-_ _ _ _
-If the call is local or if you have West Carolinas’
Piedmont Link area calling plan and the number you
are calling is in the Upstate, choose 7 digit dialing.
* When asked do you have a cable box you should:
Select “Yes I have a cable box”
****Local Cable Provider:****
* When asked who is your local cable provider you should:
Highlight and select West Carolina Communications-
Abbeville, SC
* When asked what type of package do you have you should:
We suggest you choose extended digital basic and go
through all the channels checking and un-checking the
channels you do and do not have.
* When choosing what type of connection you should:
Select the connections you made when you hooked up the
TiVo box
(This connection is pertaining to the connection from
the set top box to the Tivo.)
* When asked what type of channel changing you should:
Select “IR cable typical”
* When asked what type of Cable Box Brand you should:
Select “Next Level Communications”
* When asked what type of cable box channels display 2 or
3 digit you should:
Select “3-digit”
* When asked what type of cable box enter key you should:
Select “No”
* When asked to test the different codes for the IR
(infrared) you should:
Highlight and Select “10005 Fast”
Note: This will not setup the Tivo remote to cut on and
off the television or control the volume. (Refer to the
Tivo instructions for this setup)
